Student Life at LACS

At Lake Almanor Christian School, we believe education is more than academics—it's an opportunity to develop character, deepen faith, and engage the world with wisdom and wonder. Our program is rooted in biblical truth, led by dedicated teachers, and brought to life through an engaging, hands-on curriculum.

Step inside our classrooms and you’ll see students working together on meaningful projects, diving deep into Scripture and science, exploring history with curiosity, and applying math to real-life situations. Our teachers walk alongside them as guides, mentors, and spiritual encouragers—creating a classroom environment that is both nurturing and challenging.

We are the Eagles—Isaiah 40:31 reminds us that “those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles.” At LACS, our students are equipped to do just that—soar in every aspect of life.

Project-Based Learning

Core Academics

Community Service & Field Expeditions

Our students don’t just learn facts—they apply them. Whether they’re running a class business, planning a field trip, or organizing a community event, students at LACS take ownership of their education through real-world projects that spark curiosity, responsibility, and innovation.

Projects are hands-on, collaborative, and often tied to broader biblical themes or service opportunities—helping students connect their learning to both purpose and faith.

Strong academics are the backbone of everything we do. Our curriculum is biblically integrated and intentionally designed to help students reach their full God-given potential. With small class sizes and attentive instruction, each student is seen, known, and challenged at the right level.

From math and reading to science and history, students are taught to think critically, communicate clearly, and pursue knowledge with a sense of wonder and worship.

We’re passionate about getting students out of the classroom and into the world. Whether it’s a service project at a local shelter, a student-led field trip, or a hike that turns into a science lesson, LACS students are actively engaged in their surroundings.

Each opportunity is a chance to serve, explore, and grow—reinforcing our belief that faith and learning were never meant to be confined to four walls.

-Jayce, 7th grade

I like that it’s a Christian school where we can openly learn about the Bible. The teachers really make sure we understand what they’re teaching before moving on, which helps a lot. My favorite part is our young entrepreneur class—we learn how to run a business, and I’m planning to use what I learned to start a lemonade stand this summer!

- Wesley, 1st Grade

I love that my teacher is funny! She makes math and reading seem easy. I love having chapel, and in chapel, nap, and class we’ve learned how to listen and have good behavior while we learn. This school is FUN—and math is the BEST!

- Karah, 5th grade

I really like how the teachers take time to help us one-on-one. They focus on the students and make sure we understand everything. My favorite part was doing student-led field trips—it was fun to be in charge and help lead!

- Levi, TK

I like math because we get to use cubes! My favorite thing about my teacher is that she loves me and helps me learn to obey.

- Izzie, 6th grade

I like the Imagination Station where we do arts and crafts and play games together as a class. It helps me be creative and also helps calm me down. The teachers are really nice and explain things so we fully understand. They even helped me get to the grade level I’m supposed to be at. I also love the student-led field trips—we get to explore, learn new things, and even use math in real life!

- Eli, 7th grade

My favorite part about the school is chapel, and I like that the teachers teach everything from a biblical point of view. I also learned how to manage money through our service-based projects, which was really helpful.

- Easton, 7th grade

My favorite part about the school is that the teachers tell funny stories to help us remember how to solve problems. I’ve learned a lot this year through extra events, and I’ve gained confidence. Now I feel ready to be an MC on stage and even work a job—I learned how to take orders and payments at the same time during our student-led nacho lunches.

- Bella, 3rd grade

I love the student-led field trips and that we got to go on so many this year! We learned how to navigate, meal plan, and do other life skills. The teachers are really nice and help us understand what we’re learning. They even plan events where we can show what we learned to other people. My favorite part is reading!

- Beau, Kindergarten

I like being the calendar helper and telling the class what day it is! Math is my favorite—my teacher lets us use toys and blocks to build stuff while we learn. I also like doing crafts and making cool things.

- Zé, Kindergarten

I like playing capture the flag and sometimes the big kids play with us! We go on fun field trips and my teacher makes learning stations that are fun—I get to choose what I want to do!

Highlights from Student Life

Student-led Field Trips

Our students don’t just go on field trips—they plan them. From choosing the destination to handling logistics, budgeting, and leading their peers, these student-led experiences are packed with learning.
Students apply math (budgeting and planning), geography (map work and travel), and communication skills, all while building leadership and confidence. With teachers as guides, students step into roles of responsibility and teamwork—making the adventure both educational and unforgettable.

Nacho Lunches

It’s not just about lunch—it’s a mini business.
Our nacho lunches are fully student-led events where kids take orders, handle cash, manage supplies, and serve their classmates. It’s hands-on math, teamwork, and customer service all wrapped in one cheesy, delicious experience.
Students gain real-world experience in finance, organization, and communication. They also learn about stewardship—how to handle resources well and work as a team with joy and excellence.

The LACS Sock Hop

Our annual Sock Hop brings school spirit, history lessons, and creativity together in one joyful celebration.
Students explore the culture and music of past eras, decorate the campus, and even take part in planning the event itself. They learn about event planning, artistic expression, and the value of community celebration—while also growing in confidence and presentation skills.
It’s a time to dress up, dance, and celebrate all that we’ve accomplished together.

Community Service Projects

At LACS, serving others is a regular part of student life—not just something we do seasonally, but something we live out all year long. Our students consistently engage in hands-on projects that reflect Christ’s love in practical ways. They've raised money and packed gift boxes for Operation Christmas Child, hand-crafted Christmas gifts for members of our community, picked apples and baked crisps to share with neighbors, and collected coins to support Samaritan’s Purse through the Chicks and Honeybees initiative. Through these experiences, students learn that faith isn’t confined to the classroom—it’s something we live out daily with compassion, purpose, and a heart for others.
